Brad and I have been work colleagues and friends for over 20 years. He is a neurosurgeon, and I was the charge nurse in surgery, so we collaborated on an almost daily basis. We met at St. Jude Medical Center, where he still works today. I am now retired.

There was never any innuendo between us; it was always respectful and platonic. We have a common love for the Dodgers, dogs, and Disney!

My husband passed away suddenly and Brad was experiencing changes in his marriage. We were friends and grew closer as we leaned on one another for support through some dark times for us.

I was getting ready to move to my house in Florida when Brad approached me and told me that he had secretly loved me for awhile.

I never knew him as anything more than a friend and colleague, so his feelings for me took me by surprise for sure.

But here we are, friends first, and now soulmates.
